Streaming for Starlight: A Journey of Joy and Giving

For the past two years, I’ve had the honor of raising money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, a cause that has become incredibly close to my heart. In August 2024, I was thrilled to be accepted into the Ambassador Class of 2024-2025, a milestone that reaffirmed my dedication to this incredible organization. Streaming for Starlight has been one of the greatest highlights and achievements of my four years as a content creator, and I’m excited to share a recent experience that truly embodies the spirit of giving.

The 12 Days of Streaming for Starlight Kids

This past December, I participated in the “12 Days of Streaming for Starlight Kids” holiday campaign. Although my schedule didn’t allow me to stream for all 12 days, I decided to dedicate one impactful 24-hour stream to the cause. Thanks to the incredible support of my community, we reached our $200 day goal, making a meaningful contribution to Starlight’s mission.

Starlight Children’s Foundation is a remarkable organization that delivers joy to ill children in hospitals through toys, art supplies, books, and even video game stations. They bring happiness and smiles to children who need it most, especially during challenging times.

Creating Holiday Cheer

The holidays can be particularly tough for hospitalized children, who are often isolated from their families due to health conditions. I wanted to do my part to bring them joy and well wishes during this season. During the stream, we paused gameplay for 5-10 minutes at a time to create “Happy Grams” — personalized holiday cards for the kids. These cards were printed and hand-delivered by Starlight, spreading warmth and cheer. To show our collective care, we used the hashtag #IceCares, ensuring the kids knew they had a community rooting for them.

A Personal Connection

One of the most touching moments of the stream came on December 18th, when a community member shared that she was on her way to decorate her 9-year-old daughter’s hospital room for Christmas. Her daughter, the eldest of five sisters, is courageously battling cancer. Knowing that a child in my own community directly benefited from Starlight’s amazing work was deeply humbling.

To support this family further, I created a Kudoboard filled with messages of encouragement and holiday cheer. This particular Kudoboard maxed out with 100 heartfelt messages, a testament to the love and support of our community. When her mom received it, her response warmed my heart and reminded me why this work is so important.

Looking Ahead

I’m committed to continuing this journey with Starlight, sharing the good they do for so many families, and helping bring joy to as many kiddos as possible. If you’d like to make a difference, I encourage you to visit Starlight.org to learn more about their mission and how you can get involved.
